Meet “Ocho”
Meet “Ocho”. Ocho needs someone to save his life! He needs his soulmate! His angel! He is a VERY handsome, neutered, ginger boy with gorgeous aquamarine eyes that we rescued off the streets about three months ago.
Ocho is approximately five years old. The lady that was feeding him had to move to Northern California and she was afraid that in the neighborhood he was in danger (her backyard basically backed to the 101). When we took him in, we knew that he came around every night around 8PM (Ocho PM) for food at her house, a couple of pets from her and then would head back out to meet his lady friends.
At some point in his life, he was someone’s cat. He is definitely not feral, but he is slow to trust (part of that might have been the testosterone he still had flowing through his veins for a while even after being neutered). However, like Garfield the cat, he is VERY food motivated. So after a few weeks of hiding and only coming out for food (I made him let me pet him while he ate)… now he is begging for attention. He is lonely when I leave the room. Sometimes he doesn’t want to eat if I don’t sit with him.
He played footsie under the door with my full-time cat for the last couple of months. Their first meeting was uneventful. They didn’t even hiss. Just touched noses and she went to see if he had any of his breakfast left laying around. He seemed even more sad when she left the room.
Ocho has been neutered. He SNAP’d negative for FeLV and FIV (the vet tech said he was a very polite boy for the whole process, and this happened the day we trapped him). He has also had his FVRCP and Rabies booster.
He needs a quiet home. He appears to do well with other cats (we were told by the lady that fed him that he was fine with her cat). He has been good about using the litter box. He sleeps in my 12 year old daughter’s room, but she is very cat savvy. He needs a home with either no dogs or maybe a very old, very quiet dog would be ok. He needs a home without young children.
In the very beginning, when my daughter would move too quickly and try to pet him without warning, he would swipe gently at her hand to tell her to back off.
