Meet “Fiore”
Sweet, soft gray and white tabby boy, Fiore (and we are assuming his sister Flowers, since Fiore means flower in Italian) comes from a cat hoarding situation in the North Park area of San Diego, California. His elderly owner passed away in May 2022, leaving Sterling and his 15-30 kitty housemates without many options. Although the owner meant the best for his pets, he was in over his head even before his health deteriorated and our Veterinarian’s office had asked our help to find the all the cats in the house, safe and healthy homes.
Our vet hospital has guesstimated based on hundreds of cat records that Fiore is approx 5 years old. He had been neutered (by his previous well-meaning, but animal collecting owner as well as treated medically as best he could). We have had Fiore SNAP tested and he is FIV/FeLV negative. We have treated him for fleas, parasites and confirmed that he is a very sweet guy. He is obviously good with other cats (his best friend, Fiore, is also available).
In this hoarding situation there are somewhere between 15-30 cats of various ages – it is hard to know for sure for a variety of reasons, but we are removing them from the situation as quickly as possible with a lot of help from the friends of the elderly owner. You can learn more about animal hoarding on the ASPCA website, but as stated, “It is a complex issue that often encompasses mental health, animal welfare and public safety concerns.” The owner had over 30 kitty urns from his past cats displayed carefully – he truly, truly loved all animals.
INDOOR-ONLY homes (the owner’s worst nightmare was that any of his other cats would come to harm outside – he collected strays, vetted them, and brought them inside to keep them off the streets)! Fiore would prefer a quieter home with no small children and no obnoxious dogs (although he has previously shared the house with the multitude of cats and at least one small dog and a couple of parrots).
Fiore’s adoption fee has been waived, but donations via our website at this time are very appreciated because we are overwhelmed with this situation coupled with a crazy kitten season.
Located in San Diego, California. We can arrange times for you to meet him. Please call or text 858-883-4222. Fill out an adoption application on our website.
