Meet “Jonesy”
Meet Jonesy, a wonderful young boy kitty in need of a forever home! 😺 At around 7-9 months old, Jonesy was likely abandoned in an Oceanside neighborhood (he was not neutered). 😿 A kind family found him during a walk, and he was so friendly and hungry that they took him in and tried to locate his original family. When no one came forward, they brought him to the Oceanside Branch of the San Diego Humane Society, hoping he’d be neutered and made available for adoption, as he’s incredibly sweet. 🏡 Unfortunately, he was classified as a Community Cat (a found cat NOT wearing a collar or microchipped no matter how friendly), and despite their efforts, the family was instructed to release him back onto the streets post-neutering, vaccinating, and ear-cropping. This was heart-breaking for the poor family. 😢 They decided to have Jonesy undergo a thorough health examination at a vet and reached out to rescues to find a place that could help him find a loving forever home. 🏥
Jonesy is going to be great with respectful kids and, with a proper introduction, polite dogs and cats (though he hasn’t been tested with other cats due to quarantine policies). If he doesn’t fit well with your family, we’ll always take him back. Jonesy is located in San Diego County (Oceanside), and his adoption fee is $40. He’s been neutered, treated for fleas, received his FVRCP and rabies vaccines, had a general health check, and is fully litter-trained. COMMUNITY CAT PROS AND CONS:
Pros: The San Diego Humane Society is a NO KILL Shelter, and the Community Cat program offers free spaying/neutering and vaccines for street cats. These cats won’t be euthanized for space. 🌟
Cons: Any cat found on the streets in San Diego County, regardless of how friendly it is or where it was found, will be spayed/neutered (or confirmed fixed), vaccinated, and returned to the vicinity it was discovered with a cropped ear. This applies even to VERY friendly cats. A found friendly cat WITHOUT a collar or microchip will NOT be held at the Humane Society for more than 12 hours. If a cat lacks a collar or microchip, it won’t be listed on their website and will be RELEASED back onto the streets with a cropped ear and a paper plate of kibble.
If you care about your cat, please get them microchipped so that the Humane Society must hold them for two weeks while attempting to locate their owner – it’s the only way to prevent immediate return to the street. Please help us find a forever home for sweet Jonesy! 🐾❤️
