Meet “Athena”
Reboot – Athena didn’t adjust to her situation with her adopter, she was unhappy and maybe wanted outside? We would consider Indoor/Outdoor homes for this beautiful girl. Athena deserves to know she will be warm, and cuddled and fed. Since she was a kitten, Athena has had to navigate a lot of different phases – kitten with a doggo friend phase, teenager with a new scary doggo phase, very scary outdoor fend for herself phase and now indoor-only adopter phase (which didn’t work out).*
Athena is Apollo’s sister (you can read more about that from the old owner in the PDF below). The owner that moved and left her as a neighborhood cat called her Cali. We thought her bravery and the way she survived fending for herself outside made the name Athena perfect for her [Athena was a Roman Goddess and known as the city protectress, goddess of war, handicraft, and practical reason].
Athena is shyer than Apollo, but she will snuggle at night on top of you, but she is going to need a QUIET home most likely without young children or other pets. It would make sense that as a tiny, long-haired, female kitty with the most beautiful heart-shaped nose and gorgeous coloring that she probably spent a lot of time hiding just to survive.
Athena is ready for the right furrever home. You couldn’t find a more gorgeous long-haired kitty cat if you paid for a purebred. She is one of the most beautiful kitties we’ve ever had the pleasure of hosting – she wants to love and trust humans, but at this point she still remembers just trying to survive. I can tell when I look in her eyes that she still sees everything scary that she can’t yet forget. When you pick her up, she melts into your arms and tucks her nose into your elbow. She sleeps with my daughter at night. She needs to feel like she will be protected instead of left to save herself if something scary comes along.
Athena is spayed. She has tested negative for FeLV and FIV. She has been updated on her FVRCP and rabies vaccine. She is approximately 6 years old. She is probably going to be too shy around young children, she did know dogs but it is hard to tell how she will react, and the right cat might be fine.
You can read more about how/why they ended up fending for themselves from the original owner in her own words on this PDF she sent us.. We were asked to help by a neighbor that had been feeding them for the last half a year when the weather started to get cold again.
