Meet “Comet”

My name is Comet. I am a cool cat, err, I mean House Panther. I have giant amber eyes, three white toes on one foot, and I have what my foster mama calls four fu manchu whiskers on my chin. I love to stretch out and sleep in the sun, but I also love sitting in my foster mama’s lap while she watches TV. I’m really good with other cats – even those two crazy kittens that liked to sleep in my sleeping places with me – I just couldn’t make them scoot over and they always flopped out kitten style, but I dealt with it, because I’m a super cool cat. My foster mama says, considering I came from a hoarding house that was really icky (more about that below) and I had never seen a TV before, I’ve made myself right at home. Heck, I just let her dress me up in a bow tie to take pictures of me – I’m a very good House Panther.

If you don’t know what a “house panther” is – watch this funny video filmed about Cole the original famous House Panther)!

My original owner passed away in May 2022, leaving me and my 15-30 kitty housemates without any options. Although my owner meant the best for me pets, he was in over his head even before his health deteriorated. I heard that Joanne’s Furry Friends saved me because their veterinarian’s office asked for their help.

Per vet and dental records, Comet is approx 2 years old, he is FIV/FeLV negative. He has been treated for fleas, parasites & it is confirmed that he has been fixed.  He is good with other cats/kittens, has been brave around dogs, isn’t interested in hiding (although for the first few days him might need to get used to his new space) and he is good with respectful children. He is brave and extremely handsome!

**His adoption fees have been waived to good indoor-only homes. To a great home we will be willing to transport to the adopter at no charge, anywhere in the U.S.** Donations via our website are very appreciated because we are overwhelmed with this situation coupled with kitten season. We need to find homes for these wonderful, friendly kitties ASAP because we are over limit on taking in and helping people until we’ve re-homed these wonderful, beloved kitties in good safe homes.

Located in San Diego, California – but we will deliver our adult kitties all over the US at no cost to the adopter. Comet’s sisters were delivered to home in San Jose, Menifee and South San Diego respectively. We can arrange times for you to meet Comet if you are local or to arrange to take him for a week on a trial adoption. Please call or text 858-883-4222. Fill out an adoption application on our website.

You can learn more about animal hoarding on the ASPCA website, but as stated, “It is a complex issue that often encompasses mental health, animal welfare and public safety concerns.”  The owner had over 30 kitty urns from his past cats displayed carefully – he truly, truly loved all animals.
