Meet “Ridge”! I am a handsome little house panther in the making. I am super duper sweet and loving! My foster mama taught me how to kiss! I love people, gentle kids, other cats, and nice dogs. I’m pretty much fearless. I am neutered, microchipped, and have had my first round of FVRCP vaccine and ready to go to my FURREVER INDOOR ONLY home. I’m located in San Diego, California. I can’t wait to meet you, my rescue fairy godmother! Adoption fee is $150 and covers about 1/2 of the current costs including my microchip (which is $42 on its own).
My family and I were rescued from the backyard of a half-way house for paroled violent offenders along with my mama and siblings. My mama was trapped because Joanne’s Furry Friends used us in a box to entice her to go into the trap. Sadly mama hated it inside and was always scared, even after six weeks in my foster mama’s room with us, so she was TNR’d (I’m sure she is happily chasing lizards back in her original yard, but won’t have to worry about getting pregnant again).*
Testimonial from the young woman that Joanne’s Furry Friends helped to trap my mama and rescue my siblings and myself:
“I wanted to share a story with you. I am just your regular, average person that somehow finds herself in cat rescue situations. Most recently, I found myself in a situation where cats were left to breed on a property with no signs of slowing down. They were in very poor health, with no access to food and water, and clearly struggling to thrive. The cats could only be accessed by walking through a home whose residents were unfriendly so actually rescuing these cats was not the safest endeavor. I tried to get friends to help, I called rescues; however I usually heard, “You can’t save them all” or “We are too overwhelmed to help.”
I come from the belief that just because something is difficult, doesn’t mean you give up. I started the process of doing what I could. I rented traps and watched Youtube videos. I had gone to the property alone multiple times and with each visit, the residents of the home became increasingly agitated and inappropriate. Just as I thought I was nearing the end and had almost been able to catch all of the cats, last week when I arrived, another new litter of kittens had just been born. Unfortunately, also on that evening, an incident occurred where I knew returning to that property alone was no longer an option. I could not bear the thought of not only leaving the remaining adult cats on the property, but now a litter of 4 kittens. I felt hopeless. No one I knew would come with me to help these innocent creatures.
I woke up the next day and started another search reaching out to all the rescues I could find. Again, most informed me they were too busy, however, I did receive a reply from Joanne’s Furry Friends. Not only did I receive a reply, but an extraordinary superhero of a woman actually met with me later that very same day I had reached out, and directly helped with the situation!
Yes, a complete stranger dropped everything to come and help someone in need. There are times in life where you just really need a hand, literally, and she was that person for me and these cats. Long story short, she has now been able to get all 4 kittens, their mom, and one more adult cat on the property (with a drop trap she constructed herself by the way). She was also bottle feeding one of those kittens, every two hours, around the clock! Extraordinary! There were a total of 17 cats on the property, now only one is left to be trapped and fixed. Much more manageable. Eight were able to be placed in rescues and Joanne’s Furry Friends will be able to find homes for the newest litter of kittens once they are old enough. I would not have been able to see this rescue to the end without this wonderful stranger from Joanne’s Furry Friends. I truly have no words to fully capture my gratitude. Just amazing.”
