Meet “Tipsy”
Tipsy needs a new FURREVER INDOOR ONLY home – or to be reunited with her family who must miss her! Did you know that Only about 1 in 5 orange tabby cats is female. Scientists and researchers are fairly certain that orange tabbies’ color transpires from a sex-linked gene, with the X chromosome responsible for the orange coloring.
Tipsy’s Story: We received a call about from neighbors in Clairemont (San Diego) because this little orange tabby had started camping out in their backyard. She was dumped in Clairemont with a freshly cropped ear (proof of spay or neuter from the Humane Society) and a paper plate of food 10 days ago.
Although her ear was still bloody cropped, she had been spayed previously (she has a shaved stomach, but no stitches just a very pale old scar and a very faint blue “S”). Even though she extremely friendly, had already been spayed (so her family cared enough to do that), the plaque on her teeth made our vet estimate she is 8-9 years old (it also means she was eating canned cat food or she wouldn’t have build up (another sign she was not feral – just in case the Humane Society workers were deaf that day and couldn’t hear her huge purring so they couldn’t tell she was friendly <sarcasm>).
So the Humane Society did it again. Whacks an ear, claims a cat is happy being a “Community Cat“. Then they make whom ever brought her in release her back out on the street within 12 hours. The people that took her to the SDHS most likely thoght they we saving a friendly cat’s life and that SDHS would do their best to reunite her with her family. SDHS doesn’t hold her (or any cat without a microchip or a collar no matter how friendly for more than 12-24 hours) so her family could find her. They don’t put her on their website so her family can find her. They just chopped off her ear and called the good Samaritan that brought her in to put her back outside near where they found her to play in traffic.
Tipsy tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Her fecal sample is clean (she wasn’t on the street for very long). We gave her an FVRCP booster just in case the SDHS didn’t bother to do that either. She is good with children (sleeps with my daughter). We are testing her with other cats and she seems indifferent – she doesn’t hiss or hide, she just keeps laying in the sun while I pet her as the other cat sniffs around. Perfect with her litter box. Tipsy is a very special little golden gem with brilliant eyes. Status with dogs is unknown (we always offer trials and we can help with our dog introduction recommendations).
Located in San Diego, but willing to transport her to the right INDOOR ONLY home since she is an adult. Please fill out an adoption application
