Meet “Javert”

Meet “Javert”. Although we are full at Joanne’s Furry Friends, we really want to help Javert and his rescuers save his life. They did such a great thing by helping his situation – can someone without any other pets or small children offer this handsome 4-6 year old ginger boy a furrever home? Javert is neutered, de-wormed, de-flea’d, and has had first FVRCP + rabies vaccine – located in San Diego.

Here is Javert’s story: A stray boy community cat (TNR-ed) started coming up to us outside at night, we would give him some food since he was so scrawny and he would go on his way. He started coming up to our window and meowing until we fed him. He started letting us pet him while he was eating and after some time, while he wasn’t eating. A month or two later, he came up to us noticeably sick with a URI. He wouldn’t eat; he couldn’t smell the food, he was barely moving around at all, and he appeared to be scabbed up around his neck. We caught him. We got him in a dog kennel. We took him to the Specialty Animal Hospital, got him better, got him checked up our local vet. He’s 100% now and fully vaxxed and neutered and healthy, but he’s terrified of our cats likely from being beaten up one too many times. I’ve gotten several cuddle sessions *with purring* out of him in a pet sling, but he’s still uncomfortable with other cats around. We let him out to try isolated living in my bedroom for a while, but the other cats kept him terrified and living under the bed, barely coming out for food. We recaptured him and moved him back to the crate, he’s fine there– he gets fed, he’s safe, he poops and pees in the box, but he’s not having any more of my shenanigans and I can no longer make him happy… He doesn’t trust me anymore and he needs a pet-less home with patient people. He’s got a clean bill of health, kennel/crate, carrier and some food and accoutrements included. I just want him to be happy; the crate is no life for him. Can you help find him a home?
