Meet “Comet from Hemet”

Meet Comet — a sweet and striking little calico who survived one of the roughest starts a kitten can face and is now ready to shine in a loving forever home.

Comet’s story begins in Hemet, in what we’ve dubbed Operation Working Steer Farm — a rescue mission that involved two mama cats, two dads, and eight kittens, including Comet and her siblings: Star, Galaxy, Smokey, and Constellation. Their cousins — Emmett (from Hemet!), Green, and Tan — were also part of this extended feline family.

They were living on a rural property near to what might have been basically a drug house — a chaotic, unstable environment full of screaming, trash piles, loose dogs, and drug activity. Neighbors reportedly even shot at the cats with BB guns. It was terrifying, unsafe, and getting worse.

Thankfully, a kind neighbor who had been feeding them reached out to us when things escalated. She took them in, kept them hidden and safe, and begged for help. We had to act fast — 12 cats and kittens all at once is no small thing for a small rescue, but we couldn’t say no.

🚨 These cats were in real danger. And Comet deserves a safe, peaceful life far away from BB guns and backyards full of broken-down appliances and broken promises.

💫 Now that she’s safe, here’s who Comet really is:

A curious, gentle calico with a quiet strength. She’s been learning to trust people again in foster care — and she’s blossoming. Comet is sweet with her foster mom, playful with her siblings, and respectful of older cats. She still gets nervous with new people or sudden movement, but with a little patience, she melts into a loving and affectionate companion.

She’d thrive in a calm home with someone who understands how to earn a shy kitten’s trust. Give her space, kindness, and time — and she’ll reward you with purrs, soft nuzzles, and those wide, trusting eyes.
