Meet “Costco”
🐾 Meet Costco — Yes, that Costco (full name: Costco Has Calzones Now) 🧡
And just like the store, this boy is BIG, handsome, and impossible to ignore.
Costco showed up at a cat colony in North Park (San Diego) in terrible condition — he was literally covered in motor oil. The kind person who found him contacted a local vet hospital, and they reached out to us so we could help.
He’s now been fully vetted and cleaned up:
✨ Neutered
✨ Vaccinated
✨ FIV & FeLV negative
✨ Flea-treated and dewormed
✨ Multiple baths
✨ Nail trim
The oil was so thick on his tail that even bathing couldn’t remove it, so we had to shave his tail to get him clean. It’s very clear Costco was not thriving outside, and we absolutely do not want him back on the streets.
📣 But we need your help.
Right now Costco is safe with the person who found him, but they cannot keep him indoors forever. Without a permanent landing spot, he may eventually have to go back outside — and after everything he’s been through, that would be heartbreaking.
We’re hoping someone in our community will step up for this very special cat.
🧡 Costco’s Personality
Costco is super outgoing and very clingy with his human foster. He loves attention and wants to be close to his person. Like many Siamese-type cats, he also has a lot to say and speaks a language all his own. 🗣️🐱
The great news:
✔️ He’s been good with a calm dog
✔️ He’s been good with another cat
✔️ He is not shy at all
Costco does have one quirk: when he becomes overstimulated, he may give a gentle warning bite. It’s not aggressive — just his way of saying “okay, that’s enough.”
He actually knows he isn’t supposed to, and in the past week it has only happened once. His testosterone levels are still dropping after his neuter, and we are hopeful this behavior will continue to improve.
But right now, Costco needs an experienced, cat-savvy home — someone who understands feline body language and is prepared for an adjustment period.
To help set him up for success, we even have a color-coded “don’t pet him here” chart that will go with him to his new home. 😅
🚫 No children
⚠️ Best with experienced cat people
⚠️ His size may be a lot for some older adopters — he is a BIG boy
✨ The Right Person for Costco
Costco is an extremely cool cat. Confident, social, talkative, and very bonded to his person.
With the right adopter — someone patient, experienced, and willing to learn his boundaries — he has the potential to become one of those once-in-a-lifetime companion cats.
We just need the right landing spot so he never has to go back to surviving outside.
📍 Fostering in San Diego. Adoption fee waived to an excellent, understanding home.
