Jewel is a gorgeous 4–5-month-old kitten with a quiet heart that’s just waiting to shine. She was one of five cats—including her mama, Zoey, and her sister, Princess—that we rescued from a hotel in La Jolla Shores.
The hotel manager made it very clear that he did not want the cats there, and if we didn’t trap and remove them, he would “handle it” himself. Normally, this would have been a simple Trap-Neuter-Return situation because the cats were well-fed, safe in the parking garage, and we weren’t sure if any of them were friendly.
Then we met Jewel. ❤️
Unlike her outgoing sister, Jewel is a little shy. She watches before she leaps, follows the lead of confident cats, and is slowly learning that people can be trusted.
After three weeks in her foster home, she purred for the very first time… yesterday. 🥹
That tiny purr was a huge milestone, and it’s proof that this sweet girl is making progress every day.

We would absolutely love to see Jewel adopted with her mama, Zoey, or her sister, Princess. They are no longer being fostered together, so they aren’t bonded, but having a familiar face would help make her transition even easier.
Jewel is the perfect example of the 3-3-3 Rule. She’ll need a little time to settle in, decompress, and learn that she’s finally safe. But with patience, love, and feline friends to show her the ropes, we know she’s going to become a wonderful, playful companion.
The truth is, an adopter isn’t just giving Jewel a home…
They’re saving her life.
Because she was shy, the Humane Society would have returned her through a traditional Trap-Neuter-Return program to the same hotel where her future was verbally threatened. We had to give her the chance to become a beloved family member.
Now we’re hoping her angel adopter is out there.
