Meet “#8″ aka Wendy’s #8 Asiago Ranch Chicken Club Sandwich”

#8 IS BACK — AND HE’S STILL ONE OF THE BEST CATS WE’VE EVER HAD!
aka Wendy’s #8 Asiago Ranch Chicken Club Sandwich
(yes, that is still his full, legal, extremely important name)

Sometimes human life gets in the way of a forever home. Sadly, that’s what has happened with #8. His adopters are going through a pending divorce, and they are no longer able to keep him.

But as heartbreaking as it is to see him back, there is a HUGE silver lining:

#8 is safely back with us, and we get another chance to find him the absolutely perfect forever home. 💛

And believe me—we are going to miss him AGAIN when he leaves.

From the moment #8 was adopted, we missed him. He is genuinely one of the best cats we have ever had in the rescue. He is affectionate, goofy, incredibly gentle, and basically a long-haired labradoodle trapped in a cat’s body.

While his adopters have spent the past two months trying to figure things out, #8 has been fostering with us—and he has been doing something incredibly special.

🥹 HE’S BEEN A BIG BROTHER

#8 has helped us teach two very shy kittens how to be brave.

He has been their gentle, confident role model, showing them that humans are safe, food is plentiful, and life is pretty darn good when you have a soft place to sleep and someone who loves you.

And despite being FIV-positive, #8 is absolutely a lover, not a fighter.

FIV is not spread through casual contact, grooming, sharing food or water, or cuddling. It is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds. So all that time #8 spends lovingly grooming his little protégés? Perfectly fine. 💛

He doesn’t need special medication or a special lifestyle because he is FIV-positive. He just needs what every cat needs: a safe indoor home, good food, veterinary care, and someone who loves him.

❤️ AND MAYBE… A PACKAGE DEAL?

We would LOVE to see #8 adopted with his buddy “Can I Get An Ahhhh”.

These two have been fostering together, and #8 has been an amazing influence on his shyer little brother. If you’re looking for twice the floof, twice the cuddles, and twice the ridiculousness, this could be your dream pair.

Of course, #8 would also be perfectly happy being your one-and-only spoiled house panther. He is exceptionally people-focused and absolutely thrives on companionship.

🏡 WHAT #8 IS LOOKING FOR

✔️ Indoor-only forever home
✔️ Someone who understands that adoption is a lifetime commitment
✔️ Lots of affection, attention, and couch time
✔️ A family who will worship him appropriately
✔️ Calm, respectful feline friends—or he can be your one-and-only
✔️ Someone who appreciates an extraordinary amount of floof

After surviving the streets, finding a home, and then having his family circumstances change through no fault of his own, #8 deserves to get it right this time.

He deserves a forever home.

And honestly? Whoever gets him is going to hit the jackpot.

📖 His Back Story

#8 showed up at a colony feeding station about two months ago and immediately made it clear he was not feral.

He ran straight up to the feeder, flopped over, exposed his belly, and radiated big goofy labradoodle energy, essentially saying:
“Me hungry. Feed me. I wuv you.”

Once the feeder connected with us, a trap was borrowed and we began working through the colony. Signals got a little crossed, so #8 ended up at Bonita Animal Services for his neuter and does have a clipped ear—but he is so incredibly fluffy that no one will ever notice.

What was noticeable?
He was too sweet, too social, and too handsome to go back outside.

He had been getting his fuzzy butt kicked on the streets and came in covered in bite scabs with a painful abscess. We got him straight into our amazing vet, Pet Hospital of North Park, who agreed this boy should absolutely not return to outdoor life—especially while healing.

Despite all that glorious fluff, #8 weighed only 10 pounds. He’s a big-boned guy who had clearly been struggling to get enough food out there.

🛁 Spa Day (and Forgiveness)

After his vet visit, we treated him to a full spa evening: careful mat clipping followed by a bubble bath. He tolerated it… barely… and has since agreed to groom himself now that he’s no longer fighting for food or female companionship. He would prefer not to repeat the experience 😌.

He loves being brushed, and his future human will need to be willing to put in the time—because this boy is SO. MUCH. FLOOF.

That said… after one Churu, he immediately forgave his foster mama for what he considers to be light water-boarding.

(direct quotes from him)

“Foster mama… can you peel me a Churu and gently squeeze it directly into my mouth?”
“Foster mama… I am hot because I am extremely fluffy. Please fan me with a palm frond.”
“Foster mama… I must reward you by making biscuits. Please lie down so I may do so on your belly.”
“Foster mama… biscuit making is very tiring. I am once again famished. Another Churu, please.”
“I love you, foster mama. Thank you for saving me from the streets and literally putting me in the lap of luxury. I love your lap.” 💛

🧬 About FIV (Short, Honest, Not Scary)

#8 is FIV positive, which sounds much scarier than it actually is.

What that really means:
Not contagious to humans
Not spread through sharing bowls, litter boxes, grooming, or cuddling
• Spread only through deep bite wounds (not play, not scratches)
Indoor FIV+ cats live normal, happy lifespans
• Would thrive in a home that is stable, we don’t want to rock his immune system with back and forth and changes.

We have many FIV-positive cats adopted from our rescue—some now up to 18 years old, healthy and thriving. #8 does not need daily meds or special treatment.

He’d do best with calm, respectful cats or as an only cat, which honestly might be his dream because he is very people-focused.

We are always happy to answer questions 💬.
