Meet “Smokey from Hemet”

Smokey (a fitting name since he had to evacuate due to a large fire in on the mountain) is a breathtakingly fluffy long-haired gray boy with a gentle heart and the sweetest purr in the galaxy. He’s soft as a cloud, both in fur and temperament — the kind of kitten who’ll melt into your lap, fall asleep in your arms, and follow you around like a tiny, fuzzy shadow.
Smokey and his siblings were all living on a rural property in Hemet, right next to what was a very skectchy, threatening neighbor — a chaotic, unsafe environment filled with screaming, junk piles, stray dogs, and drug activity. Neighbors were even reportedly shooting BB guns at the cats. The danger was real and escalating fast.
A kind woman who had been feeding them stepped in and took them all in — two moms, two dads, and eight babies — hiding them from harm and begging for help. We scrambled to find fosters and supplies, administering meds out of the back of a car in 100-degree heat
🚨 These cats were in serious danger. But Smokey came out of it with his gentle, loving spirit fully intact.
🌫️ Who Smokey Is Now:
Smokey is the emotional anchor of the group — calm, affectionate, and oh-so-snuggly. He plays sweetly with his brother Emmett, loves being held, and doesn’t mind being brushed (a must for all that glorious fluff). Smokey is the first to seek out human affection and purr his little heart out.
🏠 Smokey’s Ideal Home:
Indoor-only — no more outdoor chaos for this boy
A cat-wise adopter with a another kitty in the home that is used to combining toddlers with kittens safely (if you have a child under the age of 4)
- Will get used to dogs with the right introduction (if they aren’t trying to eat them like the pitbulls were)
Bonus points if there’s another friendly feline for company — he’s a team player
Someone who appreciates a cuddle bug with cloudlike fur and a heart to match

💵 Adoption Fee: $150 or adopt Emmett with his brother, Smokey for just $200 total! Kittens do best with a friend!
(Our spay/neuter prices have gone up dramatically — from $85 to $185. This fee doesn’t fully cover food, meds, vaccines, litter, or vetting — but it allows us to keep rescuing cats like Smokey.)
